Curated by the OG Team. Local legends, fresh seasonal picks, one elevated weekend.
Toronto’s culinary scene is unmatched—but the right strain can turn a great meal into an event. We’ve mapped out four of our favorite local spots and curated distinct pairings for each, drawing from our latest June seasonal drops. We are constantly expanding this list, so keep checking back for the newest local favorites.
The Burgernator (Kensington Market)
Location: 269 Augusta Ave, Toronto
The Vibe: An unapologetic, military-themed burger joint that treats burger-making like a tactical mission. It’s gritty, loud, and iconic in the heart of Kensington. They don’t do “light”—they do massive, six-ounce patties that are built to satisfy the biggest appetites. What we love is the absolute refusal to compromise on the indulgence factor; their “Fully Loaded” burger is a rite of passage for any downtown local.
The Perfect Pairings
BOLD Rocket Fuel (3.5g Dried Flower)
True to the name, this is high-octane craft flower. It delivers an aggressive, pungent diesel profile and a potent, long-lasting high that isn’t for the faint of heart.
FIGR Mellow Man Pre-Rolls (10x0.35g)
An approachable indica-dominant experience. Expect a crisp, clean burn with bright citrus top notes and an earthy, grounding finish that keeps you centered on the trail.
Tribal - Cuban Linx
A sharp, energizing classic. Cuban Linx is celebrated for its distinct citrus and pepper profile and its reputation for delivering steady, dependable, and invigorating results.
Seven Lives Tacos Y Mariscos (Kensington Market)
Location: 72 Kensington Ave, Toronto
The Vibe: A vibrant, bustling temple to Baja-style Mexican street food. It’s consistently packed, mostly standing-room only, and defined by the “line out the door” energy that signals authentic quality. Their focus is on fresh, coastal-inspired ingredients that are as colorful as the market itself. We love them for the unwavering consistency—every taco feels like you’re standing on a beach in Ensenada.
Blue Passionfruit Diamonds 510 Cartridge (1g)
This is for the purist. By capturing the essence of the live plant through solventless extraction, this rosin preserves every delicate terpene, offering a vivid, authentic flavor that tastes just like the source material.
Dream Tokers AIO Digital Screen Temp Control (1.2g)
High-tech meets high-potency. The onboard digital display lets you dial in the exact temperature to savor the terpenes, preventing burn-out and ensuring every drop is savored.
Monjour Twilight Tranquility Soft Chews (25-Pack)
Our absolute favorite way to close out a patio night. The CBD:CBN:CBG ratio is a game-changer for easing into a restful evening.
Pai Toronto (Entertainment District)
Location: 18 Duncan St, Toronto
The Vibe: The gold standard for Northern Thai hospitality in Toronto. Walking into Pai feels like being transported to a busy, festive night market in Chiang Mai. It’s lively, warm, and unapologetically bold with spice. What we love is the depth of the flavor profile—the Khao Soi is an institution for a reason, and the atmosphere makes it the perfect place to settle in with friends.
The Perfect Pairings
Flavour Bomb Liquid Diamond Disposables/Carts
These represent the gold standard for high-clarity convenience. The “liquid diamond” process extracts THCA for unmatched potency, while the specific flavors—Watermelon Wave (sweet/candy), Atomic Peach (zingy/ripe), Grape Gonzo (deep/purple), and Pink Berry Rush (tart/sugar)—offer pure flavor fidelity in every hit.
The Loud Plug - Exotic Gas
An elite, high-octane selection for the serious enthusiast. Exotic Gas delivers a heavy-hitting, gassy profile that is widely recognized for its raw potency and uncompromising intensity.
Purple Oreoz Pre-Roll (10x0.5g)
A visual and sensory standout. Deep purple hues meet a unique, nutty-chocolate terpene profile that finishes sweet and earthy.
Dumpling House (Chinatown)
Location: 328 Spadina Ave, Toronto
The Vibe: A classic, no-frills Chinatown destination where the focus is entirely on the craft of hand-folded dumplings. It’s intimate and focused, with an open-kitchen vibe where you can watch the team assemble dumplings in real-time. We love it because it’s the ultimate “comfort ritual”—it’s unpretentious, deeply savory, and feels like a home-cooked meal in the middle of the city.
60+ Peach Pony Diamond Dipped Blunts (3x0.5g Resin)
The conversation starter. These are for when the friends are over, the music is playing, and you want to share something truly premium.
White RNTZ Liquid Diamond Vape (1g)
Don’t let the name deter you—this is a high-potency powerhouse. It delivers an aggressive, complex terpene profile with heavy gassy notes and a punchy effect that demands respect.
Permanent Marker Live Resin AIO (1g)
Don’t let the name deter you—this is a high-potency powerhouse. It delivers an aggressive, complex terpene profile with heavy gassy notes and a punchy effect that demands respect.
Beyond the Plate: Curating Your Own Experience
The magic of a great session isn’t just in the product—it’s in the environment you create around it. Whether you’re heading to the market for a tactical burger run or settling in for an authentic, spice-forward meal, the right pairing turns a simple “munchie” moment into a curated, sensory ritual.
We’ve only scratched the surface of what Toronto’s food scene has to offer. We’re constantly scouting, tasting, and testing new combinations to bring you the best local experiences. Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find the best food and cannabis pairings in Toronto?
Toronto is a massive hub for “foodie-friendly” cannabis culture. Kensington Market and Chinatown are our top recommendations for those looking to combine vibrant street food with a quality session. Our guide is designed to highlight these specific neighborhoods for a complete culinary and cannabis experience.
How do I improve my cannabis and food experience?
Focus on “flavor mirroring.” For high-intensity, spicy, or savory food, look for cannabis strains with complementary terpene profiles. For example, citrus-forward strains often elevate fresh, acidic ingredients, while earthier or gassy strains can provide a grounded counterpoint to rich, heavy comfort foods.
Does Matchbox offer a guide for other Ontario cities?
Yes! We are currently expanding our “Edit” series to include curated food and cannabis experiences for Guelph, Sault Ste. Marie, and beyond. Keep an eye on our blog for the latest location-specific guides.
What is the "OG Team" recommendation for a first-timer?
If you are new to pairing, start with high-quality, recognizable flavors. Pair a fruit-forward strain like Atomic Peach with an elevated brunch, or a clean, classic Indica with a savory dish like dumplings. The key is to start slow and focus on how the flavor of the strain interacts with the palate of the food.
Are these selections available at all Matchbox locations?
Our inventory is curated for the modern enthusiast. We recommend checking our live menu online or visiting your local boutique to confirm current availability of these specific craft batches and formats.
